Narrative
Bee flies (Bombyliidae) are a worldwide family of insects in the order Diptera. There are almost 4,000 known species. These flies are generally beneficial because their larvae destroy locust eggs and noctuid moth eggs and larvae (cutworms and sod worms). Adult bee flies visit flowers in search of nectar and pollen. These flies are usually found in arid and semi-arid areas.
